For one San Diego family of five, that magic has taken the form of an annual beach photoshoot, a tradition that’s become as cherished as hot cocoa and twinkle lights. And honestly? This season’s session took place in none other than La Jolla, one of San Diego’s crown jewels when it comes to sun, sand, and that breezy coastal glow photographers (hi, me) live for. As a La Jolla family photographer, I get to work in a location that delivers every time: golden cliffs, tide pools, wide open skies, and that delicious golden hour light that makes everyone look like a sun-kissed movie star. Bonus? This family rolled up to their shoot in the most iconic way possible—by golf cart. Yes, golf cart. It’s not only the ultimate San Diego move, but also a genius parking hack in a beach town where good spots are as rare as a quiet toddler.

We laughed, we played, we chased waves. The kids ran barefoot through the sand, parents got their sweet quiet moment in between, and all the while, I got to freeze-frame those fleeting, joyful, wonderfully chaotic family vibes.

There are about ten thousand reasons to love San Diego beaches, but if I had to narrow it down, I’d start with these: soft sand, epic sunsets, dolphins flipping in the distance, and the chance to turn a holiday tradition into something frame-worthy.
