The Curtis family flew in from San Antonio, Texas for a little California dreaming. College tours, beach time, and a solid break from the Texas heat? Yes, please. While they were in the area, we also carved out time for family portraits Windansea style. Their daughter Caroline is thinking about going to college in California—so they packed their bags, mapped out some schools in the LA and San Diego areas, and made a whole adventure out of it.
Caroline’s a beach girl at heart (smart kid), so when it came time for her senior portraits, she had one place in mind: La Jolla. Honestly, I don’t blame her. With its dramatic cliffs, golden light, and that salty ocean breeze that makes everyone’s hair look like it belongs in a shampoo commercial, La Jolla is basically the Beyoncé of senior portrait locations.
And Caroline? She totally owned it. We explored the beach, climbed up on rocks, chased the tide like it owed us money—and she radiated that kind of effortless confidence you just can’t fake. If this is the energy she’s bringing to college, California better get ready.
But here’s the fun twist: while we were there, the whole family jumped in for some photos too. Because why not? You’re in one of the most beautiful places in Southern California, the light is perfect, and everyone’s smiling. It was the best kind of combo session—part senior portraits, part La Jolla family photography, all heart.
I always say this to clients: you don’t have to separate your portrait sessions. If you’re already planning a shoot and everyone’s in town (and maybe even in coordinating outfits), let’s make the most of it. We’ll do the cap-and-gown vibes if you want and then tac on the whole fam, without making it feel like two separate productions. Just one fun, low-stress morning where we capture the magic of your crew.
