A Louisiana couple swapped the bayou for the breathtaking cliffs of Del Mar, CA, to seal the deal on their love story. The San Diego proposal took place at Sunset Seat in Del Mar—it’s one of those spots that feels like it was made for moments that matter. Perched on the cliffs, with the Pacific Ocean stretching out below, it’s the kind of place that makes you stop, breathe, and feel like the universe is giving you a little wink.

Jen and Lucas have been dating for a year. Not just any year, though—a year of purpose, of asking the big questions, of checking off those little boxes that turn “just dating” into “this might be forever.” They weren’t just looking for someone to split the Netflix bill with; they were hunting for that ride-or-die partner who gets it, who gets them.

Jen wore a colorful skirt that danced in the breeze, he rocked that sport coat cool, and as the waves crashed on the shore, he dropped to one knee. Cue the tears. Jen had lots of tears because she knew how much thought and preparation had gone into such a meaningful gesture. It was beautiful to watch and even more special to photograph.

We timed the session to soak up golden hour—because yes, the light really is that dreamy in Del Mar. I always scout my San Diego proposal locations to make sure every detail, from where the sun hits to where the question gets popped, feels effortless and cinematic. Every couple deserves that movie-magic moment, and Jen and Lucas nailed it.
