Five years ago, I had the joy of photographing this incredible family when their son turned one. We spent time hiking around Torrey Pines. Fast forward to today, and here we are again—this time celebrating their baby girl’s first birthday, in a new breathtaking spot, with just as much love (and maybe a little more of a candid experience).

As a San Diego family photographer, these are the moments that make my heart burst. Seeing families grow, watching siblings go from wobbly toddlers to full-blown, personality-packed kids—it’s the absolute best.

This time around, we upped the magic by bringing in Mom’s parents for some beautiful, full-generational photos. And let me tell you—Grandma? She brought it. She wasn’t just here for stiff, posed portraits; she was twirling in the sand, playing peek-a-boo, and getting right into the fun like she was the third grandkid. Absolute icon.

With its golden cliffs, gentle waves, and that dreamy coastal glow, La Jolla Beach is hands down one of my favorite places to shoot.
