SAN DIEGO BEACH PROPOSAL

San Diego has 70 miles of pristine coastline, year-round sunshine, and great temperatures, with very little rain. It’s no wonder you want to ask the love of your life to marry you here! After all, nature has done most of the decorating for you. That’s why San Diego beaches are a wonderful place for your marriage proposal. You can easily pass off the surprise as a day at the beach or a sightseeing adventure. You can make your San Diego beach proposal as elaborate or simple as you would like. Deciding on HOW to propose, you should first consider the personality of your girlfriend (or boyfriend!?). Are they the life of the party? Great! You might want to incorporate their friends in on the surprise. Are they really into fashion? You might want to avoid the sand and opt for a scenic cliff-side view followed by an evening in a restaurant. Are they an introvert? In that case, a simple proposal, with just the two of you, and some meaningful words is all you need. San Diego definitely has some stand-out, seaside spots that are perfect. We recommend La Jolla, Coronado, and Sunset Cliffs.

SUNSET CLIFFS

This natural park runs on the west side of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. between Adair and Ladera Streets in Point Loma. There are 3 different areas to park in and I would recommend getting there early, as it can get really crowded near sunset time. Arriving early also allows you time to explore the area. With 18 acres of sand, rock and sea to discover, almost anywhere you stop makes for the perfect scenic proposal spot.

CORONADO

The Dunes Hotel Del Coronado makes for a unique experience in San Diego. You won’t find sand dunes anywhere else in San Diego because these are actually man-made! If you were flying in an airplane above the dunes, you would notice they spell out the word Coronado. They make for stunning scenery and are highly recommended for a private space to propose.

The Coronado Ferry Landing is another good spot on the island. Although popular with tourists, you will still be able to walk along the dock and water’s edge to find a location to ask your loved one to marry you. Hiring a San Diego Photographer who can help you plan out the day will help ease the stress of such a momentous occasion.

LA JOLLA

Pretty much any beach you choose in La Jolla will give you stunning backdrops. It’s incredibly important to check the tide for the time and day on which to propose. This is for safety reasons as some beaches are non-existent at high tide and prove to be a safety hazard if you plan poorly. Our choices are Cuvier Park, Windansea Beach, Scripps Pier/La Jolla Shores, and  Ellen Browning Scripps Park. Some will be more crowded than others so properly research before planning such an occasion.
