Some families book a session, we take some beautiful photos, and that’s that. But then there are families like the Sangcaps, who let me capture their biggest milestones year after year. And let me tell you, as their La Jolla Family photographer, documenting their journey from engaged lovebirds to a full-blown, multi-generational family has been the ultimate honor.

As a San Diego family photographer, I live for these full-circle moments. It all started nearly ten years ago when I first photographed their engagement session. Then came their wedding, their dreamy maternity photos, and those sweet family portraits with baby snuggles. And now? Making memories at the very same area where their love story was first captured. Although there was a wedding taking place at Scripps Seaside Forum, where we had hoped to go, right up the hill was a grassy nugget of goodness perfect for a small family gathering.

This family portrait session was extra special because they brought in the grandparents for full generational photos—because let’s be real, nothing tugs at the heartstrings like grandparent-grandkid giggles. Watching them soak up the joy of their ever-growing family? Pure magic. After, the Sangcaps and I went down to the beach for some low tide beauty. They played in the sand, chased after seagulls, and we snuck in those candid moments that make for the best kind of photos.

As a La Jolla photographer, I never get tired of shooting anywhere in La Jolla. The golden cliffs, the endless blue, the tucked in parks… that no one knows about, the way the light wraps around families like a warm hug—it’s a little slice of photographic heaven.
