When this Wisconsin family planned their getaway to sunny San Diego, they knew one thing for sure—they needed a La Jolla family photographer to capture their beachside memories. Staying in Mission Beach for a week, they were ready for some much-needed ocean air, golden sunsets, and that effortlessly stunning California backdrop.

The crew? Mom, dad, their 21-year-old son and his girlfriend, their 19-year-old son and his girlfriend, and their 14-year-old daughter—so basically, a perfectly photogenic mix of love, laughter, and just the right amount of sibling bonding.

And La Jolla? Well, La Jolla did what it does best—showed off. With its dramatic cliffs, dreamy rocks, and wide-open beaches, this little slice of the coast is the definition of perfection. We strolled along the shoreline, and were sure to capture a couple of portraits with a photo of a dear departed one. The family was a little reserved so this session was a little more posed than most but the best part of being a San Diego family photographer? Watching families completely relax into the magic of the place. Because that’s the thing about La Jolla—you can’t help but be in awe of it.
