It was so fun working with a family who wanted to recreate a beach portrait session from 20 years ago. They had two new additions to their family, a furry one and a human one. The location they picked was Pacific Beach in San Diego, a place that holds a special place in their hearts as it is frequented by the kids.
When I booked the photo session with the dad (of all people), he was telling me about how they did a similar beach portrait session 20 years ago with their dalmatian and how they wanted to include their new dalmatian in the photos this time. It was a small group, just the two parents, their son and daughter-in-law and the dog, but it made for a more intimate and relaxed shoot.
I started with some couples shots of the parents, capturing their sweet bond. I then moved on to group shots, with the parents, their son and daughter-in-law and of course, the dog was included in all of them. The dog was so well-behaved and it was a joy to see the family interact with her and include her in the family portraits.
All in all, it was a casual and fun beach photography session, and the end result was a beautiful collection of images that captured the love and bond of the family, both human and furry members. We recreated the 20 year beach family portrait at the end. They were thrilled with the photographs and couldn’t wait to display them in their home as a reminder of this special time in their lives.
