The Maurers are the kind of family that makes my job as a Coronado family photographer an absolute joy. Their little boy? A bundle of energy and pure charm. He was all about splashing in the waves, running through the sand, and exploring every corner of the beach, which made for the most natural, joy-filled moments. He’s already got that big-brother vibe down—curious, playful, and a little mischievous.

When the Maurer family reached out for another beach photography session (we’ve done a few together over the years), I knew this one was going to be extra special. With baby #2 set to make their debut any day now, this session was equal parts family fun and glowing maternity photo magic. Where better to capture it all than the stunning Coronado Beach near the Hotel del Coronado?

But this wasn’t just a family photography session—it was a celebration of a new chapter. Mom looked absolutely radiant, rocking her maternity glow. She was stunning against the backdrop of soft golden light and rolling waves, cradling her baby bump with that mix of love and anticipation only moms know.

Dad, as always, was the perfect balance—calm, supportive, and making sure both his wife and little boy felt loved and cared for throughout the shoot.

We split the session into two parts:

Part 1: Family Fun
We let their little guy be his adventurous self, capturing all the laughter and candid moments that happen when a toddler meets the beach. From running after seagulls to holding his parents’ hands as they walked along the shore, this part of the family session was pure family magic.

Part 2: Maternity Glow
For the second half, we slowed things down to focus on the love and anticipation surrounding baby #2. Mom and Dad shared a quiet moment together while their little one played in the background, and I made sure to get those dreamy maternity photos that will be treasured for years to come. The combination of the golden Coronado light, the timeless backdrop of the Hotel Del, and the Maurers’ love made every shot feel like it belonged in a frame.
