When the Marcum family said they wanted a Coronado beach photographer, I knew we were in for an adventure. Five boys, a family back in town after moving north, and the iconic Coronado Beach near the Hotel del as our backdrop? It had all the makings of a fun, memorable session. What I didn’t expect? A stingray crashing the party.

With five boys (yes, five), including triplet 8-year-olds, a 13-year-old, and a 15-year-old, they wanted to soak up the sunshine and capture this moment in their family’s journey. Each boy brought his own unique personality and energy, contributing to an atmosphere that made the photoshoot so enjoyable.

We kicked things off in classic Coronado fashion—barefoot in the sand, and the whole family bringing their A-game with endless energy and huge grins. Everything was going perfectly until they boys decided to boogey board and—bam—stingray. (Because, of course, the Pacific Ocean had to make its presence known.)

Now, let me tell you something about this family: they’re the definition of cool under pressure. While the oldest headed off for some stingray first aid, the younger boys didn’t miss a beat. The triplets and middle brother were busy running in the sand, boogey boarding and showing off their brotherly bond.
